Here's the ideal setup for going through this course. Some of this is basic but worth mentioning:

Make sure you have a new (or at least not an old) set of strings on your guitar.
If you feel like your guitar is difficult to play and it seems like you're always fighting with it, consider having it set up by a professional.
Although you don't need an expensive rig to go through this course, make sure that your sound and tone is one that inspires you to practice. A small practice amp or virtual amp sims will do.
Have a dedicated place to go through these lessons and during practice time, in general.
Treat this course as if you were getting ready to record your own album or single; put that same level of effort into it.
